Dear Neighbor, Spring is right around the corner! Soon we will all be outside
enjoying the warm weather with our family and friends.
For the past 75 years, the volunteers of the Township of Washington Fire
Department have been committed to this community. When a call for help comes in,
day or night, our members jump into action without hesitation. Countless numbers
of hours are spent on drills and training every year. Aside from
firefighting, our members are skilled in automobile extrication as well as ice
and water rescue. Our members are trained to be ready for any situation.
As a result of the storm of March 13, 2010, our members were out handling
emergencies, assisting residents with trees and limbs on their homes in addition
to pumping water out of basements, for four straight days. This is the kind of
selfless service our members give to the residents of the Township of
Washington.
Besides emergencies, another way the Fire Department supports the citizens of
Township of Washington is through community service. We take great pride in what
we, as a Department, do for this unique community. We sponsor a Little
League team; there is the annual Easter Egg Hunt, the Memorial Day Service and
Parade, annual open house and Ragamuffin Parade, just to name a few. All
of these events are sponsored solely by the Fire Department.
All of the things that make this Department what it is today and what it has
been for over 75 years, is the support that we get from you. Your tax-deductible
donations help with the costs of the training and drills as well as community
activities sponsored by the Department.
We are always looking for new members. If you or someone you know, would like
to join our Department, stop by the Firehouse any Monday night to pick up an
application.
Thank you for your continued support.
Sincerely,
Christopher Meier
